Quick Care Summary
-
Lighting: Moderate lighting
-
Flow: Moderate, indirect and varied flow
-
Placement: Lower to middle reef areas
-
Temperament: Aggressive
-
Care Level: Moderate
Lighting
Provide moderate lighting. Acclimate gradually to its intended intensity, especially when moving it from a system with different lighting.
Flow
Use moderate, indirect, varied flow that keeps the polyps moving naturally. Avoid strong direct flow, which can irritate and retract the tissue.
Placement
Place it in a lower to middle reef area. Secure the specimen where it receives indirect circulation and has room to extend without contacting nearby corals.
Temperament
Allow generous spacing from neighboring corals. Torch corals are aggressive and have stinging potential, so keep their reach in mind as polyps expand and move with flow.
Feeding
Offer occasional meaty foods if desired. Feeding is optional, but target feeding can be done gently when the polyps are extended.
General Care
Maintain stable reef conditions, with particular attention to salinity and alkalinity. Avoid sudden changes in lighting, flow, or water chemistry, and observe polyp extension and tissue condition after any adjustment.
Give it stable conditions, indirect flow, and ample space to extend.
