Cherry Bomb Blastomussa
Care Level for Blasto Coral (Blastomussa sp.)
Ease of Care: Moderate. Blasto corals are generally hardy, making them a good choice for intermediate hobbyists. They do well with consistent water parameters and moderate care.
Lighting: Low to Moderate. Blastos do not require intense lighting; too much can actually harm them. They thrive under LED or T5 lighting that is not too direct or strong.
Water Flow: Low to Moderate. These corals prefer gentle water movement to facilitate feeding and to keep their polyps clean from detritus.
Water Parameters: Consistency is key with a temperature range of 74-78°F, pH of 8.1-8.4, and specific gravity of 1.025-1.026.
Dietary Needs: Photosynthetic with benefits from direct feeding. While they house symbiotic algae that provide most of their nutrition, Blasto corals respond well to supplemental feeding.
Recommended Foods: Meaty foods like mysis shrimp, finely chopped fish, or prepared coral foods are ideal.
Feeding Frequency: Feeding 2-3 times per week is beneficial, but they will also capture nutrients from the water column.
