Care Level for Astreopora Coral
Ease of Care: Moderate. Astreopora corals are somewhat adaptable but benefit substantially from a stable aquarium environment and particular attention to their specific care requirements.
Lighting: Moderate. Astreopora usually flourish under moderate lighting which helps to support their symbiotic zooxanthellae and maintain vibrant coloration.
Water Flow: Moderate. Ensuring a steady, moderate water flow is crucial for delivering nutrients, encouraging gas exchange, and keeping the coral clean from debris.
Water Parameters: Stability is key. Target a salinity of 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity, pH levels between 8.1 to 8.4, and maintain temperatures from 76°F to 78°F.
Dietary Needs: Largely photosynthetic, Astreopora receive most of their nutrition from their zooxanthellae, but occasional supplemental feeding can be beneficial.
Recommended Foods: When supplementing, offer microplankton, tiny particulate foods, or specialized coral foods.
Feeding Frequency: While primarily sustained by their zooxanthellae, providing additional nutrition bi-weekly can enhance their overall health and vitality.
